Most Recent Customer ReviewsDate : 2010-03-11 Summary : Another Happy Customer I'm very happy with it. It has relieved my pain on my lower quads from playing soccer for a very long time. Most of which caused my fatigue in my legs. Now I feel like I was 15 again back in the field. Thank you.
Date : 2010-03-11 Summary : Great Product This TENS unit is the perfect size and it really does wonders for any type of sports injury. The controls are pretty basic and self teaching. I would reccommmend this to anyone that is currently seeking or has been to physical therapy for an injury.
Date : 2010-03-09 Summary : Delivers/ed as advertised This is a great product. It delivers all the functions, modes and strength advertised. I am very pleased with the purchase, the quality of the unit, the cost and the speedy delivery.
Date : 2010-03-05 Summary : What works I was going to "invent" one of these--sort of an electrical stimulus that would act as a counter-irritant, like capsicum creme, until I saw I'd been beaten to it by a long shot. Since then I've been through more than a dozen TENS and EMS units, and they all provide symptomatic relief. So it comes down to the degree of comfort, convenience, reliability, and price.
The cheapest and most convenient was a wireless, self-contained stick-on unit employing a single cell battery. But it's no longer on the market, and the ones like it that are still available have proven more annoying than therapeutic, producing an irritating buzzing that doesn't reach far enough beneath the skin. If you plan to be mobile and as active as ever, try to find a unit with the fewest number of controls--several automatic programs are preferable to "unlimited" and continuous ramping and intensity dials. Also, if you can get along with two rather than four electrodes, you're less likely to get tangled up during the day. Finally, some of the fastest and most convenient machines can also be the least safe, shorting out after a month and practically electrocuting the unfortunate wearer.
The U.S.A. is the toughest place to score a unit because of FDA restrictions and prescription requirements. But there are still plenty of good ones available, and spending more than 50-60 is no guarantee of a better machine. (My most expensive ones are the least used, remaining forever in their fancy plastic cases.) The LG-7000 pictured here, and available through Amazon Prime at a third of the price it often commands, is a good start, and after a while you can decide whether you want a more sophisticated machine or a more stripped-down, basic model (in my experience the units designated as EMS machines do pretty much the same as those designated TENS).
A couple of things learned: These electrodes will produce red burn marks within a couple of hours and at fairly low voltage levels. So exhibitionist types may wish to pick the butterfly shape and attach it to a visible body part, where the burn mark will be visible for several days. Also, be sure to order a tube (available on Amazon) of adhesive conductive gel (make sure it's adhesive--this oversight has cost me), and you'll save a lot on electrodes (either Tac Gel or Parker Tensive wlll do, whichever is cheapest).
[My wife was prescribed a TENS, and her insurance was billed almost a thousand. Believe me, I'd take my 50-dollar model any day.]
Date : 2010-03-04 Summary : Was not sent the tens unit in the picture and description Please note the third party supplier when you purchase through Amazon. Through this supplier, I was sent something similiar to a LG-7000 but it was a cheaper imitation. Through 3 different calls, I was finally told I could return it. I reordered through a different supplier and got what I wanted.
