In many patients, the reduction or elimination of pain lasts longer than the actual period of stimulation (sometimes as much as three to four times longer). In others, pain is modified while stimulation actually occurs.

Summary : not for everyone
I am a rehabilitation specialist and professional. I've used these machines at work on patients for mostly pain relief. In that capacity it can work quite well. However, the power levels are limited and even at the max do not stimulate me enough. Power required for pain relief is completely dependent on each person. (I am a 5'10", 180lb male with fairly high pain tolerance)
Lastly, I purchased this machine primarily for muscle stimulation for strengthening and rehabilitative purposes. I did not find the modes or power sufficient to fufill this role.
Overall it is a good product at a decent price, especially if you are looking for something to bridge your time between physiotherapy appointments. I caution for those inexperienced, use with care or bring it to a professional to show you how to use it.

Summary : My first TENS unit and well worth it
I think the only real caveat that I would have liked to know before purchase is that a 30 minute treatment is expected to give you about 30 minutes of pain relief. I am not in a lot of pain usually, and this is all I need to be able to fall asleep when I want to fix my sciatic (lower back) issues. I have also stuck the pads on my abs and arms to work them out a bit. I am not sure that does very much, but it did make my abs feel like I had a workout. I found the operation simple enough to figure out and a 9V battery (all you need) seems to last. I am still on my first battery and I have used it at least 10 times. The default setting is 20 minutes, so that means I've done at least 200 minutes of shocking myself. I don't find that the electrical pulses hurt either, I was tongue-in-cheek using the word shocking. I would recommend buying the extra gel pads 40 2"X 2" Reusable, Self Stick, Tyco gel - Carbon Electrodes - Satisfaction Guaranteed because they do seem to wear out. I am already seeing a need to get some more.

I will admit when I first opened the case and looked at the unit it seemed a bit Small...Tiny even..
But after the initial try out sessions Im not complaining...this unit provides more than enough stimulus for the average person and after the first session for my C.P {@18 min} my hands and wrists were definately showing improvement.
Overall it is a very useable unit with much potential {just dial it up slowly...}
The supplied electrodes work very well with a good connection...{Just be sure to read and follow all the supplied instructions}.
My only complaint it that the battery door could be designed a little tougher...it looks and feels like it could pop open with out a lot of effort...
Other than than that id definately recomend this unit to anyone looking for a well powered portable unit.

Summary : Better than Pain Meds
After seeing a pain management doctor for over 3 years, I bought this device. It has really helped my piriformus muscle. Also nice to wear when out running errands, as it keeps me from getting worn out. Very highly reccommend.
